Even as coronavirus pandemic has impacted many sectors, the agriculture could be the only bright spot as real agriculture is likely to witness a 2.5 per cent growth in 2020-21, according to CRISIL research report. However, the COVID-19 crisis has significantly impacted the FPOs and their farmers as they struggle to sell their produce to the buyers as a result of collapsed supply chains, facing challenges to procure inputs, labour shortage and others. While many FPOs have come forward to operate during the lockdown by procuring and marketing their farmer members produce and giving them the much-needed income in this hour, their operations are not without struggles.
In the context, Samunnati launched its webinar series in May 2020, ‘In Talks with Samunnati: Agriculture in the New Normal’.
Towards this endeavour, a regional webinar brought together in the five vernacular languages – Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Kannada, Oriya, for FPOs from across the country on 25th, 26th and 27th June 2020 to understand the key challenges faced by FPOs as well as, solutions and new ways of working that we could adopt collectively.
Broad Topics discussed in the webinar are Member Engagement, Capacity Building, Access to Capital, Input Aggregation, Value addition and Market Access, Usage of Technology.
