Chithamur Farmer Development Centre (FDC) in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu is serving most of the farming requirements of FPOs from the last one year. Mulching sheets are commonly used to grow Rabi and Zaid crops to avoid weeds and reduce labour engagement. Chithamur FDC has served more than 2000 farmers so far by getting them quality mulching sheets directly from Gujarat manufacturers. Each farmer has saved Rs. 75 to 100 per sheet because of direct linkages provided by the FDC. Around Rs. 30 lakhs worth of material has been sold in the region.
