Samunnati was part of the panel discussion on Bigger is Better: Building Sustainable Farmer Aggregation Models in the Global South on 3rd March 2021.

The discussion had representatives from India and Africa. The Session was moderated by Racheal Wangari – Intellecap Advisory Services Private Limited and the esteemed speakers of the session were Anil Kumar – Founder & CEO, Samunnati India, Stephen Muchiri – CEO, East Africa Farmer Federation (EAFF), Ammar Kawash – Head, Smallholder Agricultural Market Support (SAMS) Unit and Farm to Market Alliance (FtMA) coordinator – World Food Programme (WFP) Rwanda, Ande Okiror Ongura – Regional Programme Officer (Business Development), Sasakawa Africa Association Ethiopia, George Osure – Regional Director, Syngenta Foundation East Africa.

The session delved on the cross learnings for development actors working in India and Africa, specifically from speakers’ respective experiences in farmer aggregation. The session covered different aspects under three broad points of (i) Building sustainable business models for farmers collectives (ii) Inherent competitive advantages available with farmer collectives and (iii) emerging roles for development partners in building a thriving ecosystem for the growth of farmer collectives.
